Looking Towards the Future!
Another year is coming to a close. 2019 was definitely full of a lot of ups and downs for me. That being said, I hope everyone else has had a great year.
I was recently interviewed for a fitness segment on the Mail Tribune website. You can check out the video here. There's one correction I'd like to make to the story, I've never been a counselor. I worked in a counseling agency after graduating from college doing payroll and billing. I ultimately came to the realization that a desk job wasn't for me and I missed social interaction. This inspired me to pursue a job in the fitness industry where I could have an active role in helping people improve their health.
The interview touches upon my origin story and inspiration for creating That Superhero Life, LLC. What does it take to become a superhero in real life? It's more than just cardio and strength training. You'll also train agility, learn the basics of self defense, the keys to good nutrition, and strategies for dealing with stress.
In the coming year, I can't wait to share more with you about everything superhero. From fitness to fashion, and from pop culture and beyond. I'd also like to get more fitness challenges and meet-ups going. I still have plans to form a cosplay superhero group to make appearances at events around Southern Oregon.
For those of you who don't know, 2019 proved to be a very challenging year for me. My father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away after a 6 month battle. I've been dealing with depression, but I know time will help me heal and things will get better. I've had a hard time focusing for the last 3 months and I've been hoping to come out of my funk soon. I have a very small family and the loss of my father made me feel much more alone. I acknowledge that things have been hard for my family and I, but in time we will recover.
However, I'm looking forward to big things in 2020 and honoring my father's memory by working hard and helping as many people as possible. If you're interested, make sure to follow me on social media. They say that the hero's journey starts with a call to adventure. What kind of adventures do you have planned for 2020? In what ways will you challenge yourself and grow as a person? You don't have to wait for January 1st. The journey can begin now. I wish you great health, good movement, and tons of happiness in the new year.
